![]() As passing through the close quarters gave eye contact the only polite choice,I praised the dish. Our host chose an amazingly lush red which was served appropriately cool, and was as delicious from first sip to last drop ( ok! turned drained bottle upside down, licking all the rills!) AND THE TAPAS!!! Holy COW!! (Check out my photos if I figure out how to post them successfully!) Assisted by flutters on white shirted and aproned serving staff, Tyler delivered the hanger steak, Trumpet mushrooms, grilled peapods, whipped goat cheese with pistachios, truffley flourishes, sweetly tender butter lettuce salad, OH THE POTATO TORTILLA!!! I could go on.and yet on again.Moving through the bar area ( oh YEAH!! real "active!") I noticed a fabulous looking traditional pan of paella in front of a congenial group of 20-somethings. The pace was certainly " active" 'round the wine wall as Barcelona was running a half-price special on all but a few of their impressive list. ![]() An invisible, complex (to me!) system is in place so Tyler can locate desired bottles. The back wall of the barn-board and rusty industrial metal textured dining room is a massive wine cellar. She soon opened up a closed dining room and enjoined the staff member to seat us ladies in "the VIP section!" Hers was a wise move slathering a GREAT portion of memorably fond goodwill, facilitating access to seating they REALLY needed within a short time after we were seated in rustic noble, blessedly quiet splendor, far from the madding yet congenial crowd!! Tyler, the "wine guy" smoothly morphed into suddenly becoming our waiter while still juggling wine bottles for one and all. OH, THAT IT WAS!!! From our entrance into the surprisingly active for a Monday evening "lively" space (old coots read : NOISY AS HELL!) shortly before our 7:15 reservation through our blissful departure at 9:35 Barcelona proved to be a warm, welcoming, culinarily adept, skillful haven of hospitality! Host Kelly, a calm & alert maƮtre d', soon learned that we far-flung sisters were intending to chat in a semi-quiet, delicious atmosphere one more evening before scattering ourselves to the winds, flying off the next morning. ![]() Host loco sister wisely reserved Barcelona as a fitting farewell dining experience. Monday, April 11, my brief spring sojourn with several southern sisters was drawing to a blissful close. ![]()
